Steelers add strength, speed, and physicality on day 2 of the NFL Draft

Joe flies solo on this late night following Friday's festivities during Day Two of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers had three draft picks during rounds two and three, addressing critical positions of need plus adding players with major upside. Zach Frazier, Roman Wilson, and Payton Wilson all add various levels of strength, speed and physicality to the Steelers roster while filling roles on the roster.

On this episode, Joe digs into how each of these players fit into the "The Standard" that has been missing in Pittsburgh and also points out a few other tidbits from the draft including some Day Three predictions.

Which round will the Steelers target a wide receiver in the 2024 NFL Draft?

Joe and Zac discuss a glaring need for the Pittsburgh Steelers as the 2024 NFL Draft quickly approaches. It's without a doubt that the team will add a wide receiver: but when, and how, will they do it?

The Steelers have met with draft prospects and attended several pro days that spread across the three days of the event. However, other team needs could supersede selecting a receiver in each round. How high of a priority is drafting an offensive lineman for the Steelers?

Joe and Brian are back to debate more needs for the Pittsburgh Steelers roster. Two big roles to fill are on the offensive line. Pittsburgh is currently lacking a starter at the center position and could also upgrade at one of the offensive tackle spots.

But do those two positions trump the need for any others? And which one is the higher priority?

The Steelers quarterback carousel spins wildly over the weekend!

Joe and Zac are back to discuss the major events over the weekend as the Pittsburgh Steelers overhauled their quarterback room.

The first shoe dropped with Pittsburgh trading Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles. The corresponding move that followed saw a long-standing offseason rumor come to reality as the Steelers partnered with the Chicago Bears to acquire Justin Fields in yet another trade.

Analyzing the Steelers free agency moves thus far and what might be next?

Joe and Zac jump on a late-week edition of the show to discuss the Steelers' latest free agent moves and offseason acquisitions.

General Manager Omar Khan made headlines last weekend by agreeing to terms with former Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson. He continued into the early and official free agency period by agreeing to terms with several other free agents, including former Ravens LB Patrick Queen. Another former Raven is also headed to the Steel City, and there could be yet more players from division rivals coming to town while a long-time Steelers leaves in a trade.

T.J. Watt Defensive player award snub highlights busy Steelers news week

Joe is back with a post-NFL Honors edition of the Steel City Underground Podcast.

As yinz are aware by now, T.J. Watt was snubbed by voters for the AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award. Joe has A LOT to say about why it was an awful decision and how Watt is a generational talent who deserved the accolade.

Can the Steelers play spoiler and upset the Bills in Buffalo?

Joe and Brian are back for some "bonus football" as they preview Sunday's Wild Card Weekend matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills.

Despite being down T.J. Watt this weekend, there's still optimism that the Steelers can pull off an upset in Orchard Park, New York. Sticking with the "hot hand" at quarterback, getting reinforcements at a depleted roster group, and signing another key contributor to the practice squad could all factor into tipping the game in Pittsburgh's favor.

Can Mason Rudolph lead the Steelers over the Ravens and into the playoffs?

Joe and Brian are back to review what went right and wrong against the Seattle Seahawks and how the Steelers might be able to parlay that into their upcoming game this Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Steelers are in a must-win situation, and also need help, to make the playoffs. However, the Ravens are already locked into the top seed of the AFC and could be resting some of their starters.

With Mason Rudolph resurrecting Pittsburgh's offense into back-to-back games with 30 points or more scored, can the former 2018 third-round pick keep it going for the postseason push?

Weekly WTF: Redemption tour for several backup quarterbacks

This week on the WTF podcast, Terry Fletcher looks at the growing number of backup quarterbacks taking over their team's starting duties.

Several of these quarterbacks are on "redemption tours" to show they still have "it" including former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco (now with the Cleveland Browns) and former first round pick Drew Lock (now with the Seattle Seahawks).

Terry also discusses some of the "overreaching" by NFL referees as well as players who feel they shouldn't block, as to avoid injury!

Is the Steelers season all but over after loss to the Colts?

Joe and Brian are dejected in yet another postgame show detailing the Steelers collapse nearing the finish of their 2023 season.

This time the loss comes at the hand of important postseason implications as Pittsburgh drops to 7-7 following a 30-13 thrashing by the Indianapolis Colts. Not only that, but the game could've been worse.
